Pulpit Manager
App Terms
Last updated: 19 July 2026
These App Terms cover the Pulpit Manager macOS app itself — the licence you get, what the app needs from your Mac, how updates work and what we are responsible for. Your account, purchases and refunds are covered separately by the J20 Terms.
1. What this document covers
This document governs your use of the Pulpit Manager app on your Mac. You accept it by ticking the box shown when you install the app — at that point you have not created an account or bought anything.
It does not cover your J20 account, purchases, payments, refunds or complaints. Those are in the J20 Terms at /legal/terms, which you accept when you create an account or buy. If the two ever disagree, the J20 Terms decide anything to do with the account and purchases, and this document decides anything to do with the app itself.
2. The app
Pulpit Manager tidies up your Mac's desktop. It gives each Space its own set of icons, and adds a hub with clipboard history, a file shelf, a side stash, window snapping and widgets.
Your files stay where they are. The app does not move, copy or delete anything — it switches the system's "hidden" flag so that only the set you chose shows on a given Space. Quitting the app, or dropping to the Free plan, makes every file visible again.
The app is freemium:
- Free — works indefinitely, no account needed. Includes the widget hub, clipboard history (up to 5 items) and the file shelf (up to 3 items).
- Premium — unlocks the per-Space icon engine, side stash, window snapping, keyboard-backlight control, AI chat and the repository feed, and removes the clipboard and shelf limits.
We may change what each plan includes for future purchases. Features you have already paid for stay available on the terms that applied when you bought them.
3. What it needs to run
macOS 14 (Sonoma) or later, on a Mac with Apple silicon (M1 or later). The build downloaded from our site does not run on Intel Macs.
System permissions
macOS asks for each permission separately, only when you switch on the feature that needs it. You can refuse any of them — only that one feature stops working — and withdraw them at any time in System Settings → Privacy & Security.
- Files and Folders → Desktop — per-Space icons and desktop tidying;
- Accessibility — window snapping and tiling by keyboard shortcut;
- Automation → System Events — the dark-mode toggle;
- Calendar and Reminders — the Today and Tasks tabs;
- Location — weather;
- Camera — the mirror widget in the hub;
- Bluetooth — paired devices and their battery levels;
- Full Disk Access — the Notifications tab only. The app never asks for this by itself: you switch it on manually or the tab stays off.
The app does not use, and never asks for, screen recording, the microphone, your contacts or your photos.
Internet
The app works offline. Everything at its core — the per-Space icon engine, clipboard history, file shelf, side stash, window snapping, notes and time tracking — runs with no connection and no account. Only weather, AI chat (unless you point it at a local model), the repository feed and update checks need the network.
Analytics
There are none. The app contains no analytics or crash-reporting SDK, sends no usage statistics and creates no installation identifier. Every outgoing connection is a feature you switched on.
4. Your licence
You are not buying the app itself — you are getting a licence to use it. We grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, worldwide licence to install and use Pulpit Manager on up to 2 Macs you own or use, for the duration shown at checkout, for your own purposes, personal or professional.
Part of the app needs no licence at all: the Free plan works without an account, without a time limit and without paying. A licence unlocks the rest. How long it lasts is shown at checkout, and everything it covers stays available for that whole time.
You must not supply unlawful content through the app. This includes anything you type into the app and anything it passes on to an external service you have configured, such as the AI chat.
You also agree not to:
- resell, rent, lend or otherwise make the app available to third parties;
- circumvent, disable or tamper with the app's licensing or security mechanisms;
- decompile, disassemble or reverse engineer the app, beyond what the law expressly allows;
- remove authorship or ownership notices;
- use the app for unlawful purposes.
A Premium licence ends when a paid period runs out and is not renewed, or when a purchase is refunded. The app then returns to the Free plan. Nothing of yours is deleted: the paid features stop, and any files hidden on the desktop become visible again.
We may withdraw the licence only for good reason — a serious breach of the rules above — after asking you to stop and giving you a reasonable deadline. Any refund of the unused period is handled under the site Terms.
5. Updates and support
The version downloaded from our site checks for new releases and tells you about them. It never installs anything on its own — installation always takes a click from you. You can switch automatic checking off and check manually instead. Every update package is cryptographically signed and verified before installation, so a tampered file is rejected. The Mac App Store version updates through the App Store, following your system settings.
For 12 months from your purchase — or for the whole subscription period, if that is longer — we provide the updates needed to keep the app conforming to the contract: bug fixes, security fixes, and updates that restore the app after a new version of macOS.
When that period ends the app does not stop working and you lose nothing you paid for. It keeps running in the last version delivered, with the full set of features your licence includes — you simply stop receiving new versions.
We may also stop developing the app or withdraw it from sale. If we do, we will tell you in advance and the licence period you have paid for is unaffected: it runs to its end, or we refund the unused part if we end it sooner. After that it is simply not renewed.
If you do not install an update within a reasonable time, we are not responsible for a problem caused only by its absence — provided we told you about the update and what would happen without it.
Some features — above all the per-Space icons — rely on macOS behaviour that Apple does not document or guarantee. A macOS update may break them. Within the period above we treat that as a non-conformity: we ship a fix, and if a fix turns out not to be possible, you have the rights described in section 7.
Support is by email, in Polish and English, on working days. We aim to reply within 2 working days. Support does not cover configuring your hardware or third-party software.
6. Intellectual property
The app, its code, interface, graphics, icons, texts and the name Pulpit Manager are protected by copyright and belong to us or our licensors. Buying a licence transfers no copyright and no trademark rights to you.
The app uses third-party components under their own licences; you will find the list and the licence texts in the app, under About.
Your data is yours. We claim no rights to the files, notes, clipboard entries or anything else you create or keep using the app.
7. Our responsibility
We are responsible for the app conforming to the contract — for it working as described, being fit for its ordinary purpose and having the qualities you can reasonably expect of it.
If it does not conform, you can ask us to put it right. If we fail to do that within a reasonable time and without significant inconvenience to you, or we refuse, or the problem is serious enough to justify it straight away, you can demand a price reduction or withdraw from the contract. The procedure and the refund are described in the site Terms.
We do not exclude or limit any liability that cannot be excluded by law — in particular for intentional harm, for personal injury, or under consumer-protection rules. Nothing here affects your statutory rights.
So far as the law allows, we are not responsible for:
- external services you connect and configure yourself — AI providers, GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket, the weather service — or the content of their responses;
- the effects of withdrawing a system permission that a feature needs in order to work;
- the effects of modifying the app or running it contrary to this document.
The app does not move or delete your files, it only changes whether they are visible. Even so — as with any software that works on files — we recommend keeping regular backups, for example with Time Machine.
8. Contact
pulpit@j20.dev — questions, support, bug reports and anything to do with your licence.
Company details, the complaints procedure and information about out-of-court dispute resolution are in the J20 Terms.
We will tell you about changes to this document in the app or by email, at least 14 days in advance. Changes are not retroactive and do not worsen the terms of a licence you have already acquired.
